From Okinawa to the world.
Arakaki Tsusho carries the maritime trade spirit of the Ryukyu Kingdom into modern export — sourcing over 20,000 Japanese SKUs for partners across Asia and beyond.

A trading island, for six centuries.

Arakaki Tsusho was founded in Naha in 1980 by Isamu Arakaki, a man whose character was shaped by the rubble and renewal of post-war Okinawa. His father had stood at the centre of that rebuilding — Naha's first fire chief, a figure who held the community together when it had almost nothing. Isamu carried that instinct forward, not in administration but in life: a karate master, a teacher, a true 祭男 — the kind of man who believed a festival was never just a celebration but a way of reminding people they belonged to each other.
Beside him was Junko, who had made her own crossing as a child — from Taiwan to Okinawa, learning early what it meant to arrive somewhere new and be made welcome. When Taiwan's 1979 tourism liberalisation began bringing visitors to Okinawa's shores, the two of them opened a small duty-free shop to meet them.

Connecting people to people, culture to culture, market to market. Real connection grows from trust.
Rooted deeply in the climate and culture of Okinawa, with its abundance and sincerity at the core of our business.
Competitors are not enemies but colleagues in the same trade. We grow partnerships with an open posture and create value no single house can.
Respect for Okinawan materials and Japanese quality. We polish both the product and its story — the real value lives in the detail.
As the world keeps getting smaller, if we can sharpen our work and save time, we can do far more than today. Competitors are not enemies — they are colleagues. By each bringing our own role to the table, the world can go one step further.
What runs through every decision we take.
Four traits passed down through Arakaki Tsusho across two generations — the bones beneath the brand.
- 01Discipline from the dojo
Isamu Arakaki spent half his life refining Okinawan karate. The respect and integrity he learned there is how we still face partners, customers, and each other.
- 02Bilingual, bicultural sense
Junko grew up in two cultures and brought both into the company. Cross-cultural understanding and empathy are invisible assets that show up in every negotiation.
- 03An Okinawan eye for goods
Sitting where East Asia meets, we've read Japan-Asia market currents by hand. We can tell what is genuinely good, and we know which market wants it.
- 04Carrying it to the next generation
What began as a Naha shop is being carried forward to Asia's next-generation markets. We protect tradition while we innovate.
